Uncovered Wounds

Did you know that the Lord came to restore and redeem every part of your natural life? I mean on this earth. We hear those words all of the time in the Christian world, and it almost has started to become a cliché because people say it, but don’t seek out what that truly means.

He came to do it, but it is on us to find it, allow him to show us, dig up all of our “things,” and follow the breadcrumbs to how that is supposed to happen in each of our lives. Our lives are all different. The things we suffer, the way we feel things, and the way we respond to things are also very unique that only the creator of your life could know how to correct things for you as an individual. The first step is to accept this thought of redemption and seek it out. We cannot go through life accepting our hurts and struggles as our portion. If we do that, then we are rejecting the redemption offered to us.

I know a lady who every time I see her, she has the world falling in around her, but in reality, from an outsider’s view, she has an extremely blessed life. She has rejected redemption and merely accepted her mind as the ruler of life. That is her choice as she doesn’t want to even acknowledge anything painful in life that might have led her to this type of thinking all of the time which just makes her miserable. The consequences of this type of thinking have led her down the road of depression, and feelings of worthlessness. It’s sad, but she refuses to rip the band-aids off and face the inner wounds that lead to this mindset.

I think I would rather rip the band-aid off, uncover the wounds, and start the journey of locating the breadcrumbs of my life story so that I can find out why I am the way I am, and why I think the way that I do.  It all starts with a creator, a history, all the “life” things, and seeking the Lord every step of the way.

I work with the elderly population frequently, and that is the generation of, “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Many have multiple wounds they have kept secret for many years. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had a person confide in me, deep dark secrets that have haunted their life, and caused great pain for their lifetime. That did not have to be. Sometimes it’s a person that told them they had to keep those things secret, and sometimes it’s the enemy, or their own mind that told them they had to keep it all a secret. Those secrets become hidden dungeons of doom and despair, causing turmoil, and not only their life, but then their actions, because of trauma, become generational consequences. Of course, there is a time and place for all of this, but the key is to identify it.

Much of my past career was in hospital and rehab settings. Did you know they have nurses in those places that are called wound nurses? Their job is to make rounds on the patients to see if there are any wounds that are starting that need to be dealt with before they turn into something more severe. They look over the entire body, and even in the most intimate places to make sure that there isn’t something hiding that could harm the body, or the healing process. That seems to be so invasive, but the fact is, if the patients don’t allow the nurse to see the wound, it will fester, get worse, and turn into an infection that invades the entire body. That type of infection can even lead to death.

We should all be acting as our own wound nurse to locate the areas within our lives that need to be healed, finding the areas that are leading us to mental, physical, and spiritual deaths to various areas of our own lives. Those spiritual deaths may be God-given dreams, gifts, and desires that he created you for, but somewhere along the line a wound happened. Then, a thought process might have come along with it to trick you into thinking those things God made you for can’t be true. If not corrected, the next generation will have those same thoughts, and the cycle continues.

Those kind of wounds are killing what God called you to do, so let’s uncover them, so that we can create new life, new ways of thinking, and new processes that completely go with God‘s way, and that is of life, and life His way!

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The afflictions of the righteous are many, But the Lord rescues him from them all. He protects all his bones, not one of them is broken.”

Psalm 34:17-20 NASB2020
